The town of Siwa is on the northwest edge of the Great Sand Sea amid a vista of endless dunes.

It is situated near the Libyan border and Egypt’s most remote oasis town. The extremely conservative Siwans have developed their own distinct Berber culture and language and are known for their exquisite jewelry and crafts. This magical area was visited by Alexander the Great, who came here for the Oracle of Amun, where he was confirmed as God and King of Egypt.
