Alchemy is often described as the art of transformation, but at its core it is about observing, understanding, and being in right relation with the natural world — and in turn, ourselves.

Alchemy is about so much more than transmutation; it is a path toward a more harmonious way of living.

For centuries, alchemists worked directly with plants, fungi, minerals, and metals in laboratory settings, laying the foundation for what we now know as chemistry.

Alchemy, however, encompasses the subtle forces constantly at play within the world around us. Rather than isolating compounds, alchemical medicine-making seeks to work with the wholeness of a substance by incorporating the “Three Essentials” in order to create truly full-spectrum medicines.

“Khemia” is the ancient Khemetic word from which alchemy takes its name — and this course is where that practice begins.

Khemia: Intro to the Vegetable Kingdom is a grounded four-week introduction to plant alchemy through both philosophical study and hands-on practice.

 

Talia Gosiaco is an applied mycologist, medicine maker, and practicing alchemist whose work bridges practical laboratory methods with the deeper philosophical and relational aspects of the Art.

Talia’s approach is grounded, embodied, and beginner-friendly while still honoring the depth and lineage of alchemical practice.

MEET TALIA GOSIACO

Talia Gosiaco is an applied mycologist, alchemy practitioner, and mystic working across mushroom cultivation, fungal medicines, and herbal spagyrics.

Talia was born on Oahu, Hawaii, and from an early age they were shown what it means to love and respect the land. This way of life instilled in them a respect for cultivation, seasonality, and the patience required to tend both land and life.

Over time, that fascination with the natural world led Talia into the study of alchemy, where they have devoted themselves to deepening relationships with the living world and its visible and unseen dimensions.

Talia’s work lives at the bridge of science and spirit, and in practicing reciprocity with the living world as a way of remembering where we come from.

Lacuna Medicinals began as a passion project and has since grown into a source for alchemically-prepared medicine and education around what it means to be in right relationship with the living world.

Talia’s primary teachers are Robert Bartlett, Isis Indriya, Sajah Popham, and Daniel Wiseman.

They are a graduate of TriStar Alchemy and Lumina Institute, and is currently in third year of study with the Academy of Oracle Arts.

Talia’s prayer in teaching this course is to illuminate the importance of our relationships with the human and more-than-human communities that shape and sustain us.
