Crystal Woodling is an Appalachian witch, clinical herbalist, Hellenistic astrologer, poet, and longtime teacher whose work brings together plant medicine, myth, ritual, science, and the wisdom of the body.
Born into a lineage of Appalachian medicine women, Crystal grew up harvesting medicines and developing an intimate relationship with the plants, waterways, and living landscape around her.
After leaving her career as a professor of poetry and literature, she spent more than a decade studying herbal medicine and healing traditions while searching for answers to her own chronic illness. Her studies have included herbal and astral practice, journey work, plant dietas, fasting, ritual, mythology, astrology, and work with healers and elders from folk and Indigenous traditions around the world.
Today, her teaching invites students to bring intellectual understanding and direct experience together, learning not only about the living world, but how to listen and respond to it.
