"I have been a fan of Tuvan music and spirituality for a long time, over 30 years but I only recently took a throat singing workshop with Enrique Uglade, SoRIAH. His depth of knowledge is very apparent in his introductory lecture on his journey to mastery. I soon found out that I only knew about 10% of the technique it takes to become a throat singer. Luckily Uglade keeps no secrets from his students and lays the process out bare with clear explanations. He guides the group in warm up exercises, so important, before the lesson begins. His demonstrations and explanations of the technique are thorough and clear. He spent time with each individual student to make sure they were using the correct mouth posture and vocal tones, much the same way I would teach an art class, with constructive feedback on technique. He made me feel seen and heard, which is very important in a learning setting. What I learned from Enrique Uglade about Tuvan culture and "throat" singing is still ringing in my body today.
